I've been using a Soekris net4801 as my firewall for my home since 2004, originally m0n0wall, obviously now SmallWall. Thank you to all who are working to keep SmallWall alive.
My setup is I have my desktop and two printers connected to one LAN port via a switch and a wireless router, configured in bridge mode and a VoIP device connected to the other LAN port.
I'm thinking replacing my 4801 with MITXPC's FWPD12TIMT3410. Since it only has one LAN port, I'd like to get a managed switch and setup VLANs to isolate my desktop and printers from the WLAN and VoIP. Also, I'd like to learn about VLANs.
What would anyone suggest for an inexpensive managed switch, this is for a home network.
There was an article on Ars Technica (http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/04/ubiquitis-8-port-poe-switch-is-a-solid-complement-for-a-home-unifi-setup/) recommending Ubiquiti POE switche US-8-150W, also because he uses a Ubiquiti Unifi AP.
I've seem an 8 port switch by ZyXel on Newegg for $60 - $90.
Anyone has experience with either or are there others I should look at.
Thank you for any help.

Thank you Lee.
I'm primarily a UNIX SysAdmin and a neophyte as a Network Admin. Could you recommend a good source(s) for learning networking. I found this article at SmallNetBuilder about link aggregation (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/lanwan/lanwan-howto/30556-how-to-set-up-switch-link-aggregation)

Smallnetbuilder is actually not bad to start. They make some assumptions based on budget and not security, but they are a good beginning otherwise.
