This is hard to troubleshoot, since PPPoE is essentially gone in the USA and I only have one client to test from. And of course, they work fine. First, what version are you on? My client is working with 1.8.3, not a beta. And all they have are username and password in place. That said, the router or network may have saved your MAC address, so you can try putting the MAC from your Win7 system that worked in SmallWall and seeing if that helps.

I am using PPPoE VLAN 10 on smallwall 1.8.3 (ALIX board) to connect to my ISP through a VDSL bridged dynalink modem/router in bridge mode.
It works fine.
I would check if your ISP is using a VLAN.
My first attempt did not work, but after examining the saved xml config, I saw that I had got the ISP login passwd wrong...
In New Zealand, PPPoE on VLAN 10 is standard for VDSL and fibre.

Wow! PPPoE tags AND vlan tags? Is there any room left for the packet? It amazes me how may ways providers have to mess up the Internet.
