Hello, I have recently taken up an IT internship and they are running monowall 1.3.3 on an old IBM machine. The machine is at the point were if it turns off we are worried it will not come back on. I have been researching m0n0wall for a good few hours and ran across this project. I would like to know that if I install smallwall on a separate PC, am I able to move the configuration (config.xml) into smallwall and have it work? I can not find any information specifically regarding this topic. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Absolutely. The config is a standard xml text file. You would need to change the interface names to match the hardware you have, and then just upload it to a computer with SmallWall running on it. Then you have an exact copy. You could also do this in a VM if desired.

I have the computer all set up, I just need to upload the config, make the adjustments for the specified machine and hope it works! Thank you for the speedy response! I am a bit surprised by it in all honesty but pleased. I will be setting it up Monday. Thank you and have a great weekend.

Also, as long as you are core i gen 3 or better you will get full gigabit routing speeds.
