For those who haven't patched their FreeBSD 10 versions yet to deal with the software generated random entropy. Here is a quick fix that might help. If your hardware has GEODE, AESNI, VIALOCK or any other hardware encryption engine. Firstly, upgrade the version of openssl to the latest version (openssl-1.0.1g.tar.gz). simple download and add to build process. Next, within the build process etc/rc add this line before rc.bootup. # disable software interrupts /sbin/sysctl kern.random.sys.harvest.swi=0 This will disable software generated random entropy if the hardware engine supports. Hope this helps! Link explaining device random www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=random&apropos=0&sektion=4&manpath=FreeBSD+10.0-RELEASE&arch=default&format=html
