Has anyone been able to get Dynamic DNS working with FreeDNS (freedns.afraid.org)?
On the Dynamic DNS configuration page, I chose DynDNS (custom) for Service type. Entered {mydomain} for Hostname, entered freedns.afraid.org for server and entered my username and password in the proper field.
When I save, I get the following error messages in the logs:
/usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate[7869]: /usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate started for interface sis1 host {mydomain} using server freedns.afraid.org and service dyndns-custom
/usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate[7869]: malformed cache file: /var/db/ez-ipupdate.cache
/usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate[7869]: error processing request
/usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate[7869]: failure to update sis1->24.59.81.120 ({mydomain})
I created a domain on no-ip.org and it works using DynDNS (custom).
The /usr/local/bin/ez-ipupdate[7869]: malformed cache file: /var/db/ez-ipupdate.cache line appears when configuring no-ip,org

Afraid is an odd one. They do not follow the RFC, and you have to put the token in the url... I think it could be made to work, but it will take some trying.

Thank you for the reply. I'll plug away at it and see if I can get it work. no-ip.org works fine, so I may just leave it at that and just update every 30 days.

I think Debian made a patch for Afraid, and adding those things is on my list... Way down on it, but on it!

Lee, thank you for all you do for SmallWall. As a workaround, I created a shell script in cygwin, based on Afraid's wget example and use cygwin's cron to check. I can wait. I have setup a development environment in VirtualBox, but I haven't touched C since I graduated from College 20 years ago. I'm a SysAdmin, not a programmer, my programming is in shell scripting and I've dabbled in Perl & Tcl/Tk. That being said, I'll look and see if I can figure this out and create a solution. Again, thank you for all you and contributors do.

One thing I am looking at doing is putting a wget or curl back in so you can use the SmallWall scheduler to do this... It is also on my list.
