After over a year of problems with our cable ISP we've decided to switch to VDSL and their IPTV service (specifically BT with their YouView platform) - does anyone know if it's possible to get this working with SmallWall? I've seen a few discussions about IGMP on e.g. the pfSense forums but lots were from a while ago saying an update would fix the problems, but haven't been updated since.
I'm prepared to have a play with it but it would mean buying another modem as the ISP's router doesn't have a modem-only mode.

At this point it is not supported. (Never had anyone ask!) But there is no reason it could not be if you are willing to work at it. From my limited digging, it may need to be compiled in the kernel and some settings added. This can be hacked into a live system via the CLI page or from shell commands. If you want to work on it, I can help teach you how to hack on SmallWall. And if you figure it out you will get all the fame and glory.

No worries, IPTV is something I'm quite new to so I'll have a play with it after it's installed to see how it behaves. One thing I'll have to be careful of is BT's DLM which apparently detects modem disconnects/reboots as a line fault and backs off on sync speed until it's seen to be stabilising, so I'll probably have to find another router distribution to use as a stand-in so I can still use YouView without having to constantly swap modems. I've found a good modem candidate if anyone's looking for something similar: www.thinkbroadband.com/news/7361-mini-review-of-low-cost-tp-link-w9970-vdsl2-modem-router.html
