Hi,
I have above hardware, and for just about 11 years I had a great pleasure running m0n0wall. Does smallwall supports sas megaraid_sas adapters. It seems that every time I try to write image to disk operation fails. I am using AHCI selection... Any ideas would be appreciated.

SmallWall is m0n0wall, just continued where Manuel left off. So it should work fine, and can even upgrade a m0n0wall image.
As for writing, how are you doing it? The boot CD can have some issues due to the way FreeBSD deals with disk images. (It can loose the CD-Rom...) Booting a Linux LiveCD and using dd may make more sense. Check out the new documentation quick start guides.
That said, RAID for SmallWall is overkill. It can be installed on a thumb drive and work fine for many years. The drive is only used to boot, or to upgrade images and save config changes. That is very low use.

Ok, i will check documentation and yes linux live cd with DD make sense. I have no options regarding raid, it is built in thing so I got to use it. I do want to boot from virtual drive ... I will try and let you know ...

Please do. Especially if you have to do anything "interesting" to make it work.
