I want to test something with (jumbo) frames and if memory serves well, I can remember that there is the possibility to set the MTU on the WAN to 1500 using the exec.php or am I mistaken.

Yes, from exec.php you can run standard FreeBSD commands. (At least for things that are included like ifconfig and route) A handy tutorial for the FreeBSD commands is here. www.cyberciti.biz/faq/freebsd-jumbo-frames-networking-configration/Now the persistence is a bit different. You have to do that in the config xml. <wan> <if>em1</if> <media>1000BaseT</media> <mediaopt>mtu 9000</mediaopt> <spoofmac/> <ipaddr>206.xxx.xxx.18</ipaddr> <subnet>28</subnet> <gateway>206.xxx.xxx.17</gateway> </wan> (I think... I have mainly used it to set duplex, not MTU)

Thanks for pointing that one out to me btw is there a way to edit the xml config other than downloading and uploading again. Find command doesn't work and a pwd gives /usr/local/www

Not really. The config is actually in two places, so you would need to modify the running config, then the "saved" config, and then reboot to reload the config. In theory, you could remount /cf as rw, and then just edit /cf/conf/config.xml and reboot... With no editing tools, of course. I have found editing the local copy and "restoring" the simplest method. And if you ask why it is so hard, it is on purpose. Some of these options can really break a system, and so we do not want to make it too easy. it also insures you have a recent local config if you truly hose it and need to rebuild from scratch. It cuts down on the support questions immensely!

I understand, a logical choice. Programming is easy, making it idiot proof, is hard
